The Wild Robot – Trailer. Damn this was close to being something wonderful.

The trailer for The Wild Robot movie is truly a roller coaster ride. I almost didn’t click it. I was certain this movie would be predictably bad. A robot in the woods, discovers it’s humanity. Tie in a little woke messaging about the environment and some cuteness and you’re all set. I watched the trailer to make fun of it. Then? I got sucked in. The visuals are fantastic. The drama is there. You get comedy out of the cute forest creatures. When is the robot holding the baby duck? I’m in. I’m all in. Then? It all goes to shit when actors start talking. Why?! Why would they ruin this with talking? The Wild Robot looked to be so close to something wonderful. Then some actor starts talking. Massive suckage. Now you’re just another movie. Sad.

The Wild Robot is based on a book series by the same name. There’s three of these things, so maybe I’m the asshole here. Talking definitely make sequels and books easier to write, I guess. But is this about ease or someone making something great? It’s about money. It’s almost always about money. Congrats The Wild Robot movie makers. You got really close to something wonderful. Then you ruined it. The Wild Robot hits theaters on Sept. 20th, 2024.

Great review on the Wild Robot trailer. I have to agree with you. Indeed there was something very special happening until the narrator spoke. Sigh.

To quote a famous comedian… “Them the apples.”

Ha! It was such a great trailer! And then… blah blah. Such a drag. You have great taste in comedians btw. 🙂

The talking didn’t ruin it. The “reimagining” of What a Wonderful World did. People can’t come up with new songs either anymore?

I hear ya. And agree. That songs seems to be the standard issue for almost every movie now. I once met a guy who was part of songwriting team for Walt Disney back in the day. Dude had some great stories. I might get into that on this weeks podcast! Have a great day!
