Despite what the media is trying to spin, everyone with at least one working brain cell has noticed the 2026 World Cup has been a real life party for the planet, and the United States has been the Main Stage attraction.
There has also been a sort of fan-curated soundtrack. If you watch enough of the soccer lovefest posts, you’ll hear and see music each country has selected to share with friends around the globe, blast from bars or perform on the streets. Some official anthems, some just for fun. Here are a just few examples of the songs picked by fans to celebrate their home teams and home countries:
Scotland
Between drinking Boston dry and going on a traffic cone public art redecorating tour, one video of some Team Tartan dudes showed this catchy tune blaring from a pub while passersby joined in the singing:
United States of America
If you boo another country’s national anthem…before losing to them in a game…they might be heard singing this feel good Americana piece:
Mexico
Despite the two teams facing off, Korea and Mexico got pretty cozy South of the Border…and there were a few little videos showing Mexico partying with Korean fans to this hit that has been a Quinceañera staple as long as I can remember:
Korea
Meanshile…the Korean soccer lovers were doing some street performing with this current worldwide hit from the group who is headlining the World Cup finals halftime this year:
Africa
One of the other halftime performers…Shakira, did a super fun anthem when the World Cup was in Africa in 2010, but it’s this song with Burna Boy the soccer fans from there have been rallying to this year:
Japan
It has been no secret Japan has been loving the Texas, and as a Texan I am ready to bring them in, feed them BBQ and a Lone Star, and let the party continue. But they are here to win, like every team is, and when their Samurai Blue is on the pitch, it is this anthem giving them some serious motivation:
And finally, one more for the United States
For some reason, this is one of the karaoke favorites that keeps popping up for fans from around the globe, and you know what, I dig it:
So, the World Cup has so far shown people can be loyal to their home teams, but still show some love and gratitude towards their hosts. When the world has a party, there will be food..there will be celebration…and there will be music!
