Skeleton Crew had the worst numbers of all the Disney Star Wars shows. Worse than the Acolyte. It was, as they say in Hollywood, a disaster. My reaction? Good. This is great news for Star Wars fans.
What makes Skeleton Crew’s failure such good news? Well, it’s not because people have given up on Star Wars. So, let’s put that theory to rest.
No, my friends. It’s because we love Star Wars that we celebrate the disaster of Skeleton Crew. It’s a cause-and-effect thing. See, Disney Star Wars thought they were looking at an endless supply of Star Wars fans. Now they know that isn’t the case. Not even close. So, when they keep churning out garbage, people will just stop watching.
For the record. I haven’t watched a second of Skeleton Crew, I was out a long time ago. Book of Boba Fett, sucked. Obi Wan blew. Ahsoka was horrible and The Acolyte was a bad joke. You just can’t keep churning out poorly written, trash and expect an audience. It’s even too much for Star Wars fans.
Andor was wonderful. I’m looking forward to season 2. But is it enough to ‘Save’ Disney Star Wars? I doubt it. Andor feels like a show that snuck through and succeeded in spite of the execs. And that, kids, is where the problem lies. Disney Star Wars has a Kathleen Kennedy problem. We all know it. The only people who seem unaware is her boss at Disney.
They only way they will realize there’s a problem with Disney Star Wars is when they fail so badly, they think they’ve killed the cash cow. The failure of Skeleton Crew is one step closer to that realization.
